Each year in late October or early November, the Branch hosts a weekend workshop in the forest and dunes of Pacific Grove (near Monterey).

The Valentine's Day Ball is a gala event held annually at the Scottish Rite Center on Lake Merritt in Oakland. The dress is formal and the occasion festive. Starting with a Sherry Social and finishing with a Midnight Supper, it's the perfect way to anticipate the return of Spring.
This Valentine's Day Ball is held in February. Check the Branch Calendar or the Online Flyer! for the next date.
The ball is recommended for dancers with one year of experience of Scottish Country dancing (those with less experience should confer with their teachers).
The Annual Jean Patrick Memorial Dance is held in conjunction with the Highland Gathering and Games held in Pleasanton on Labor Day weekend. The online flyer can be found here: Online Flyer
This is a lively annual event enjoyed by all who have attended over the years. Please come and please encourage the new dancers in your class to come also. Join us for a delightful evening of Scottish dancing and maybe stay over to enjoy some of the wonderful things Sonoma County has to offer.
Hosted by the Santa Cruz class every August, this is an evening of favorite dances in a hall with a view of the Pacific Ocean and the Monterey Bay . An early start time of 6:00 p.m. allows the opportunity to enjoy the sunset and the buffet during the dance, with time enough left over for the drive home.
The Branch Committee has appointed Elizabeth Wright to coordinate Branch participation in Bay Area National Dance Week, Late April to Early May 4, an annual 10-day festival of FREE, public, dance-related events. The Committee has also allocated a budget to cover registration fees for groups and classes interested in participating. For more info, contact Elizabeth:

Many RSCDS-SF members were introduced to Scottish Country Dancing at a Clan Gathering or Highland Games. These festive events are held throughout the world and throughout the Bay Area. They are fun for the whole family and often include demonstrations of Scottish dancing. Bay Area events include the San Francisco Free Folk Festival and Campbell Highland Games in June, the Oakland Scottish Games at Dunsmuir House and Gardens in July, the Monterey Scottish Games in August, and the San Francisco Caledonian Club Highland Games in September (Labor Day weekend) at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
