The Branch lost one of the persons most responsible for its birth and one of its staunchest supporters when Walter McAdam died suddenly February 2nd (see biographies).

The Caledonian Club Games, 3 and 4 September were held at a new venue this year; the Alameda County Fair Grounds at Pleasanton proved a very satisfactory local. There was more room than at Santa Rosa, and there were trees to provide much needed shade, although the temperature was not as high as it usually is at Santa Rosa. Bud Wisecarver again provided the ARF as a stage for the Country Dance adjudication. Twenty six sets were critiqued by Marianna Harvey and David Tague. These demonstrations were alternated by entertainment by Jimmy Wright, The Celtic Harpers, The Strathleven Dancers, and The Scottish Fiddle Club. The San Jose Class stage was also in continuous use for demonstrations of country and step dancing, harping and fiddling. So much was going on here that it was difficult to break away to sample the offerings at the three other stages where Scottish singing and fiddling was going on to say nothing of the highland dancing, piping & drumming and athletic competitions, the dart competition, Clan tents, or military encampment. The Jean Patrick Memorial Dance was also held at a new location, the Pleasanton Middle School on Case St. The school is only three years old and has been kept in immaculate condition. The only drawbacks were that the floor though of wood and beautifully kept is not sprung, and there was no kitchen. Refreshments provided by the Livermore and Lafayette Classes were had in the courtyard. The weather was fine so that worked very well but could be a problem if conditions were less favorable.
